Apple-Inspired Recipes Debut On YouTube

Vienna, VA – The U.S. Apple Association (USApple) is debuting seven new video segments on its new YouTube page this week. The segments discuss how to enjoy apples and apple products as part of a healthy lifestyle. Included are short videos that teach you how to make five different apple-inspired dishes, perfect for summer, including apple-cilantro salsa, apple-halibut kabobs and cheddar and apple paninis. Chef Amy Riolo walks you through each recipe while Allison Parker, registered dietitian, apple fanatic, and Director of Consumer Health and Education for USApple, discusses the many health benefits of apples and apple products. To view the videos, check them out on USApple's YouTube page: www.youtube.com/USAppleAssoc .

USApple is the national trade association representing all segments of the apple industry. Members include 40 state and regional apple associations representing the 7,500 apple growers throughout the country, as well as more than 400 individual firms involved in the apple business.

When asked why USApple chose YouTube as an avenue for communicating with consumers, Parker explains, "We recently launched a Facebook and Twitter page and were looking for ways to increase consumer awareness about apples and apple products. We especially like getting consumers to think about apples and apple products as year-round, delicious, nutritious and quality ingredients and by using YouTube we found a way that we could communicate directly with them."
