Avocados From Peru, The New York Jets, and Shoprite Build the Largest Bowl of Guacamole During the New York Jets Season Opener

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Avocados From Peru® (AFP), the New York Jets and ShopRite joined forces for the first time ever, promoting health and fitness with a unique series of events with the favorite superfood of the NY Jets, Avocados from Peru, which are available at ShopRite.

With this one-of-a-kind partnership, the New York Jets, AFP and ShopRite, collaborated on a variety of promotions, including taking on the world record challenge for the “largest bowl of guacamole” at the MetLife Stadium —the largest NFL stadium in the world.

Weighing in at a record 9,090 pounds, the gargantuan bowl of avocado goodness easily claimed victory and was named the world’s largest bowl of guacamole. Representatives from the World Avocado Organization were onsite to certify the challenge and presented the New York Jets and AFP with a certificate commemorating the event.

“We are excited to celebrate the start of what is sure to be a successful season for the New York Jets,” said Xavier Equihua, President and CEO of the Peruvian Avocado Commission. “With the support of ShopRite and the New York Jets, winning the world record title for the largest bowl of guacamole tastes like sweet victory.”

Not only was it the biggest bowl of guacamole ever made, it was also the most delicious. Created especially for the world record challenge, smaller servings of the award winning AFP and NYJ guacamole recipe can be made for any friendly get-together or tailgating party all season long!
