Broetje Orchards Receives NCSI 2010 Chairman’s Award

Yakima, WA– Recently, Broetje Orchards was honored with the 2010 Chairman’s Award from NCSI Americas.

Broetje Orchards was nominated and selected based on their commitment and leadership in the areas of food safety and social responsibility.

Ben Marchant, Director of Business Development for NCSI Americas remarked, “Broetje Orchards stood out as a clear winner for our 2010 Chairman’s Award, not just for their food safety, but for their community philanthropy and social policies that go above and beyond the industry standard.”

Over the past 25 years, Broetje Orchards has developed a business model that focuses on the quadruple bottom line, balancing people, profit, planet and the sense of purpose for employees and the organization. This model has allowed the business to grow and give back. Today Broetje Orchards donates at least 50% of their profits to support organizations that include the Vista Hermosa Foundation and the Center for Sharing. These organizations assist and empower individuals toward sustainable community and social change.

Through their involvement with NCSI, Broetje Orchards has adopted Food Safety Management Principles and achieved SQF 2000, SQF 1000 and HACCP certifications and they are currently working towards certification in both social and environmental sustainability.

NCSI is a global certification body and is in its 3rd year of awarding the Chairman’s Award, presented annually with one award per continent. This is the first time the award has been presented in North America. The recipients are nominated by sales and account managers from NCSI based on the organization’s fulfillment of all food safety requirements and certifications, as well as overall performance in areas related to quality, environmental stewardship and social responsibility.
