SALINAS, CA – This Friday night, July 19th, will be the third annual Produce Mascot Race for Fight Hunger Night at the California Rodeo Salinas. This event will be held on the track during the 2nd performance of the Rodeo, which starts at 6:00pm. The race will feature ten mascots from local produce companies racing for charity, bragging rights and a chance to defend their title of the fastest mascot on the track. The participating produce companies are sponsors of the Rodeo and paid an entry fee to participate in the race. The race entry fee is then donated to Ag Against Hunger, whose mission is to alleviate hunger by creating a connection between the agricultural community and food assistance programs. In the past two years, this event has raised over $25,000 for Ag Against Hunger.
Participating companies are: Bengard Ranches, Chiquita Brands International, Church Brothers, Dole Fresh Vegetables, Duda Farm Fresh Foods, Ocean Mist, Pacific International Marketing, Tanimura & Antle, Taylor Farms and The Nunes Company.
