Cameo Growers Introduce New Retail Promotion Platform

WENATCHEE, WA (October 4, 2010) — The Cameo® Apple Marketing Association (CAMA) is introducing a new promotion kit to help retailers drive Winter apple sales. This kit focuses on three aspects to communicate to the consumer, instore merchandiser bin displays, website downloads, and social media.

The merchandiser is shipped to retailers in trucks with fruit from Washington and is designed to be set up in stores in less than one minute. Each unit contains it’s own set up instructions and holds either bulk or bagged product. The merchandisers feature a recipe for low calorie Chili-rubbed Salmon with Cameo® Apple and Peanut slaw, available for download by consumers from the CAMA website. CAMA also uses Facebook advertising and other forms of media while on ad with retailers. Along with the recipe, the promotion highlights the Cameo® variety’s crunch to consumers through it’s theme of “Experience the Flavor and Crunch of Cameo® Apples”.

“Cameo® sales increased nationally by 45.4% in Winter quarter 2010, compared to Winter 2009. The category increased by 5% for that same period. Cameo® helps retailers bring consumers back to the category after Fall and drive new dollars and volume during the crucial Winter period” said Kevin Precht, CAMA Marketing Program Director. Precht continued, “This new Winter Cameo® promotional platform helps retailers drive sales by communicating the outstanding crunchiness and flavor of this variety to shoppers.”
