Christopher Ranch Triples Garlic Roasting Capacity

Gilroy, CA – A project that started with a pizza company looking for a fresh, easy and delicious way to add Roasted Garlic to their specialty pizza turned into an essential part of Christopher Ranch’s line of garlic products. So much so, that the Ranch has tripled the capacity of its garlic roaster to meet today’s demand.

After a lot of research in the late 1990’s, Christopher Ranch opted for a custom designed convection oven that roasted each clove to a golden brown that was bursting with rich, nutty flavor. As more customers asked for this delicious ingredient, the roaster was soon running multiple shifts to meet the demand. As demand increased, it was clear that it was time to update and expand the roasting operation.

It took over a year to plan and coordinate removing the old equipment and installing the new roaster. With careful planning between the Sales, Production, Maintenance and Refrigeration departments on the Ranch along with the manufacturer and shipper of the new roaster, Christopher Ranch could keep all customers supplied with Roasted Garlic during the three weeks that the roaster was not in operation.

The new roaster is working at triple the capacity of the old system while maintaining the same great taste that our customers have grown to expect – the taste that differentiates Christopher Ranch Roasted Garlic from other products in the market. “Our Roasted Garlic is popular with retail and foodservice customers, but the biggest growth we’ve seen is as an ingredient in food manufacturing and baking,” said Marketing Director, Patsy Ross.
