Edible Stickers Inspire Kids To Play With Their Food

BURBANK, Calif. – As the government continues to roll out its new “My Plate” initiative, which encourages every American to fill half their plates with fruits and vegetables at every meal, My Fruity Faces aims to help parents meet this new standard. My Fruity Faces are all natural, flavored, edible stickers that parents and kids can put on fruits and vegetables to make faces and designs. The stickers allow kids to show their creative flair and have fun with their food.

Among U.S. preschool-aged children (two to five years of age), obesity rates have more than doubled since the 1970s; among six- to 11-year-old children, rates have more than tripled. These numbers helped spur the concept behind My Fruity Faces. The edible stickers were inspired by the popular potato head game, but instead of using inedible plastic pieces, the stickers are edible and can be placed directly onto fruits and vegetables.

“Children are bombarded with fun yet unhealthy snacks, and we saw an opportunity,” said Brian Jones, partner and Kidxecutive with My Fruity Faces Company. “According to our study, 85 percent of parents believe their children would eat more fruits and vegetables if they could play with it first. My Fruity Faces stickers encourage kids of all ages to play with their fruits and vegetables, helping them get the much needed nutrients that fruits and vegetables provide while enjoying the experience.”

My Fruity Faces stickers come in different shapes and sizes including full faces, face parts and accessories. The stickers are allergen free, gluten free and are Orthodox Union Kosher certified. The nutrition panel shows zeros from top to bottom, meaning the fruits and vegetables provide all the nutrients, unlike other empty calorie snacks marketed towards kids. Although currently only available in a natural fruit flavor, My Fruity Faces will soon introduce other flavors including caramel and apple pie. Every sticker is made at the company’s FDA compliant Tacoma, Wash. manufacturing facility. One-hundred percent of the ingredients are from the U.S.
