Four Seasons Family Of Companies To Donate Over $50,000 To Local Food Banks

Ephrata, PA – “We like to give back. We’ve been blessed, and we want to be a blessing to others,” said Jason Hollinger, General Manager of Four Seasons Produce. Hunger is an issue throughout the United States and Four Seasons Family of Companies wanted to do something to help those who are food-insecure in their area. From June 28 – July 4, 2014, Four Seasons committed to donate a portion of its profits from sales in that week to help fight hunger.

Today, Four Seasons Produce was proud to announce that with the help of some vendor and customer partners who contributed money towards the cause, they were able to donate a total of $51,300. The money will be divided between four food banks in their area associated with Feeding America, each receiving over $12,500: Philabundance (serving greater Philadelphia, PA and the Delaware Valley), Greater Berks Food Bank (serving greater Reading, PA), Central Pennsylvania Food Bank (serving the Pennsylvania mid-State), and Capital Area Food Bank (serving greater Washington, DC and Northern Virginia).

Four Seasons Produce chose June 28-July 4 because summer is when school breakfast and lunch programs end and children from food-insecure families no longer have access to them. Donations to food banks decrease during the summer, while the demand increases, making the need for children most acute.

“As a part of the food supply chain we wanted to be involved with helping the food-insecure in our region.  Donating from our profits during a busy time of year fits with our culture and what we care about,” said Jon Steffy, Director of Sales and Retail Services for Four Seasons Produce.
