Haun Potato Co., Inc., has moved its offices.
In June, the Kansas City, MO-based buying broker of potatoes and onions relocated to Lenexa, KS, a Kansas City suburb.
For more than 20 years, the company sold potatoes and onions from offices in a small office complex that was a converted motel along Frontage Road on Interstate 35 in Shawnee, KS, a Kansas City suburb.
The area is populated by many car dealerships. Audi purchased the building and Haun Potato received a 30-day notice to move, says Dave Haun, president.
The new office, at 8726 Bourgade Ave., in Lenexa, KS, 66219, is located in a newer and more convenient office building, which is two blocks from Interstate 435, a major Kansas City artery.
The company was founded in 1965 by Richard “Spud” Haun, who died in 2016. It is a national broker, which sells predominantly to retail, foodservice and processor buyers in Kansas and Missouri and parts of Nebraska and Illinois.
Dave Haun joined the company after college in 1973 and later purchased it from his father.
“I really enjoy the people in this industry, the people we are able to, and are fortunate to, work with on both sides of the business,” says Dave Haun. “It’s always amazing to me that as hard as this business can be, there are so many good people in it.”
