FRESNO, Calif, March 31, 2010 Borges Group announced today that it has named food industry veteran Jeffrey Freeman to the position of CEO/President of Borges USA Star Fine Foods. Freeman will focus on operations, business development, marketing and acquisitions as Borges USA expands its presence in the retail and foodservice markets. The addition of Freeman to the Borges USA Star Fine Foods management team will enable the company to better leverage its diversified portfolio of healthy, Mediterranean food products, including Star Olive Oil, Vinegar, and Olives, Cara Mia Artichokes and related Borges specialty food products in North America.
Freemans 27-year career in food and consumer products includes increasingly responsible management positions with several leading food and beverage companies. Most recently, Freeman was CEO/President of Tetley USA, where he successfully integrated Good Earth Teas into the organization following an acquisition. While at Tetley USA, Freeman successfully re-launched the Good Earth Teas line of distinct conventional teas and led the expansion of Tetleys Real Brew Ready-To-Drink Tea brand to food service trade.
Prior to joining Tetley USA, Freeman was with the Mariani Packing Company as executive vice president where he was responsible for managing and directing all marketing, sales, customer service and procurement departments. He helped drive the Companys growth via new product development, distribution gains, increased brand awareness, and international sales of Mariani brand dried fruit products.
Freemans career also included roles as vice president and general manager of Premier Valley Foods where he managed products sold under the Del Monte brand. Freeman also held management positions with Dole Packaged Foods and Johnson and Johnson.
