Labor Of Love Asks For Community Help

YUMA, AZ – The Labor of Love program celebrates farmworkers and their commitment to the agriculture industry. After three successful months of recognizing Salinas and Monterey based workers, the program coordinators have been approached by many in the community wanting to know how they, too, can get involved.

Kristan Sheppeard, one of the Labor of Love coordinators explained, "We knew the industry would jump on board to support Labor of Love in the Salinas area much like in Yuma, but we are very excited about the response.  Phone calls, e-mails and social media messages have been coming in from the Salinas Valley asking how they can get involved.  We are excited to share a way that everyone can show their support for those working in Salinas area fields."

Beginning Monday, September 19, 2016 continuing through Sunday, September 25, Labor of Love will be collecting $5 gift cards to be given to those working in Salinas area fields.  Zeph's One Stop, located at 1366 S. Main Street in Salinas, will be the drop-off location. The best time to drop off is between 10am-6pm.  Anyone interested in participating is asked to drop off the gift cards over that time period. The gift cards will be distributed during a massive Labor of Love "Random Act of Kindness" morning on Monday, September 26th where farm workers will be surprised with the gift cards so generously donated by the community.  In addition to the cards, Labor of Love organizers will also provide a surprise breakfast in the field to one lucky crew as well.
