Since its founding in 1998, food safety and traceability, supply-chain management, new product and process innovation, organic and natural foods, fair trade products; and corporate restructuring and financing have kept Novelle Consulting busy. Novelle’s redesigned website, www.Novelle.com, explores the lessons and improvements the group has been part of in the last decade.
The new section on “Friends” presents business and human interest articles to share with all visitors to the website. Novelle starts with “Traceability”, written by industry-leader Bruce Peterson. “The Accidental Photographer,” by Dana Thomas, president of Index Fresh, Inc. follows. These articles take the reader from the challenges facing the Produce Traceability Initiative (PTI) Steering Committee, to the joy of photography while on business trips.
John Musser and Erich Hinrichs, Novelle’s new consultants, are introduced. Musser comes with a wealth of supply-chain management experience in the produce industry. He has participated in many company restructuring and turnaround projects. John is a graduate of Dartmouth College’s Amos Tuck School of Business Management.
Erich Hinrichs is Novelle’s resident expert in Europe and Russia. Based in Hamburg, Germany, Hinrichs has implemented innovative promotion across the continent. He pioneered produce sourcing from Latin America and Africa, for western and eastern Europe, Scandinavia and Russia. Erich is a graduate of the Stanford University/INSEAD Advance Management Program.
In the “On the Move” section under “News”, Novelle principal Henry Winogrond continues to report on projects in third world countries to improve food development and supplies. In “White Papers,” consultant John Musser writes about Fair Trade products, a growing market niche in Europe and the U.S. He discusses the concept of bringing higher returns to small farmer cooperatives through higher priced certified products.
