Guatemala – Last week, One Banana donated 2,000 bananas to more than 700 competitors in the Third Lilies Run Against Epilepsy which took place in Guatemala City. Supporting Asociasion Lirios was an easy decision for the Brand – which has made a name for itself through Guatemala for its charitable good works and encouragement of citizens to adopt a healthier lifestyle.
The need for epilepsy education and treatment is imminent. Approximately 365,000 people currently suffer from the condition in Guatemala.
Said One’s Corporate Director, Bernardo Rohrs, “Anytime we can support an initiative which promotes a noble cause – like the eradication of epilepsy – and also helps people stay active and energetic, we are happy to be involved.” With the raised funds, Association Lirios will begin the construction of an outpatient medical clinic and health education center.
The involvement and food donations from private companies like One Banana was publicly acknowledged by the Organization. Said, Veronica Rosal, President of Asociacion Lirios, “We are thankful for all of the support. We were a sea of purple out there and together spoke out for epilepsy.”
