Produce Alliance Announces New President, Key Leader Retires

From the Produce Alliance Distributor Conference hosted in Austin, Texas, George Melshenker, CEO of Produce Alliance, announced several key leadership transitions in the business. Our team is excited to share the news with our entire Produce Alliance community.

A New Produce Alliance President

Effective today, Melissa Ackerman enters a new leadership role as president after supporting the business as associate general counsel, vice president of sales, and executive vice president of sales. Her commitment and innovation in both roles were an essential part of the business growth since 2012, adding more than 100 employees to the Produce Alliance team.

Recognition and Retirement of a Founding Member

Joe Collier will be closing a remarkable chapter at Produce Alliance after announcing his retirement. Joe joined Produce Alliance during its founding year in 1996, and served as its business development officer, helping to grow and sustain the national network that has become the Produce Alliance distributor community.

What the CEO Had to Say

George Melshenker, CEO of Produce Alliance, made both of these announcements personally at the distributor event.

“There’s a lot of joy for me in celebrating Joe at the close of a remarkable chapter and getting to introduce Melissa in her role as president in a single event,” said Melshenker. “I feel pride in what we’ve accomplished. And looking ahead, I know Melissa and our entire Produce Alliance team and community will give me many more reasons to be proud.”
