Miami based, The Perishable Specialist, Inc. hired Mark Vertrees as their Marketing & Business Development Director on October 1, 2009.
The Perishable Specialist, Inc. (PSI) is a customs broker that is licensed by the Department of Homeland Security Customs & Border Protection Division. PSI works with produce importers that bring in products by air and cargo containers into South Florida. They are also a licensed remote location filer capable of clearing imported produce at any U.S. port or airport.
Im really excited about working with the industry leader in the produce customs business. The importation business has gotten incredibly complicated since 9/11 and the War on Terrorism. Knowing all the rules and regulation about importing produce has become extremely specialized and I see lots of growth potential for PSI, explains Mark Vertrees.

PSI is really in the communications business, explains Mark Vertrees. There are so many things that can go wrong in importing produce and it seems to get more complicated every day with new regulations. PSIs job is to make importing seamless. My job is to develop the PSI brand and help produce companies understand what really makes PSI special: 24/7 personal attention, industry knowledge and state of the art communications, Vertrees explains.

Mark Vertrees owns TFM International, Inc. which is based in Mulberry, FL., approximately 5 miles from Publix Headquarters. TFM is a produce marketing company that specializes in produce advertising, communications and business development. In addition to PSI, TFM currently works with several companies in the produce business. Before starting TFM, Vertrees worked for over 20 years in sales and marketing with HLB Tropical Foods, Sunkist, Florida Department of Citrus and Winn-Dixie.
