Wholesum to Launch New Tomato on the Vine Top Seal Packaging at the PMA Virtual Tradeshow

AMADO, ARIZ. — Wholesum, Fair Trade Certified growers and shippers of organic produce, recently launched new top seal packaging for their organic tomatoes on the vine. The new top seal pack will make its debut at the PMA Virtual Tradeshow in October.

“Our organic tomatoes on the vine have been a staple item with our customers for many years,” says Ricardo Crisantes, Chief Commercial Officer of Wholesum. “We are very excited to make the shift to top seal packaging to align better with our customer’s needs, especially with the surge of online grocery sales. We believe this pack will bring convenience to retailers, consumers and even delivery personnel who are tasked with selecting the right produce for their customers.”

Each pack contains a 1lb cluster of tomatoes on the vine with four or five tomatoes on each vine for full flavor and freshness. Both the tray and film are made of recycled PET, making the entire package fully recyclable. The design also creates a more merchandising friendly pack, allowing it to be stackable or propped up on the shelf, all while still protecting the tomatoes.

This is the fifth Wholesum item to transition to top seal packaging. Last year Wholesum launched the Flavor Lineup, a specialty organic snacking tomato line all in top seal packaging.

“At Wholesum we are always thinking of creative ways to update our current products and packaging,” says Crisantes. “We are looking forward to launching more sustainable and innovative lines in the near future.”
