New York, NY – Global leader in sustainability, Zespri Kiwifruit announced today that it will be featuring its newest variety of kiwifruit, SunGold, at CPMA 2014 and submitting SunGold to CPMA’s New Product Award Competition. Zespri’s efforts to grow its newest kiwifruit variety are rooted in Zespri’s dedication to minimize its impact on the environment (both at home in New Zealand and overseas), while continuing to invest millions of dollars in innovation technology and create a superior piece of fruit.
Zespri’s Global Marketing Manager in Organics, Glen Arrowsmith, says, “Zespri SunGold kiwifruit is a new, naturally-bred variety that’s been 10 years in development. With its delicious, sweet-tangy flavor, it’s a great example of Zespri’ s leadership in kiwifruit through our culture of innovation, experienced growers, and sustainable growing practices.”
Since its inception, Zespri has focused on treating its workers and growers fairly, minimizing its global impact, employing an orchard-to-retailer delivery process that is sustainable and effective, and delivering premium quality and superior tasting kiwifruit. While at CPMA, Zespri will be exhibiting several of its innovations, including the bio-spife kiwifruit eating utensil, compostable labels, and packaging that is recyclable and/or renewable. Zespri will also be participating in CPMA’s educational program for children, The Freggie Program, by donating coloring books and stickers to the children’s loot bags in order to encourage them to eat well and live actively.
