Claim Jumper Restaurants Sells Assets, Files For Chapter 11

The company that operates 45 Claim Jumper Restaurants in eight states, including the one Reno, filed for bankruptcy reorganization on Friday. The restaurants will stay open.

Claim Jumper Restaurants, LLC said in a statement it agreed to sell its assets and operations to Private Capital Partners, an affiliate of Canyon Capital Advisors LLC, and voluntarily filed for bankruptcy protection in Delaware.

“Claim Jumper Restaurants is expected to emerge from Chapter 11 in approximately 60 to 75 days with new ownership and a significantly strengthened balance sheet,” the company said in a statement. “As a result of this transaction, the business will be adequately capitalized and debt-free.”

The Reno Claim Jumper opened in 2000 at 4905 S. Virginia St. in the Redfield Promenade at South Virginia Street and Kietzke Lane. The store on Saturday referred questions to corporate headquarters where no one answered the telephone.

The company said it expects customers not to notice the transition. It said it will still honor gift cards.
