Houston Grocers Build Up As Land Costs Rise

Houston will see more two-story grocery stores inside Loop 610 as the rising cost of land forces developers to build vertically.

"Retailers are building multilevel, not because they're trying to project a certain image but because they have to," Gaines said. "It's more expensive, with more X factors. It takes little more daring."
