Hy-Vee Converts Some Of Its Full-Service Market Grille Restaurants Into Express Eateries

Hy-Vee Inc. is pulling back on its chain-wide full-service restaurants and is in the process of converting several of its Market Grille locations in to self-service eateries.

The company said it plans to launch Market Grille Express at several locations over the next month. Customers will order and pay for their orders at a walk-up counter, much like what was available before Hy-Vee introduced it sit-down restaurants in 2012.

Hy-Vee said the Express restaurants will serve a more limited menu that will include scrambled eggs, breakfast burritos, pancakes and oatmeal in the morning, and appetizers, burgers and sandwiches in the afternoon and evening. The full-service bars will remain, the company said.
