Pathmark Makes Community Rewards Program Available At All Pathmark Locations

MONTVALE, N.J.  – The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company (A&P) today announced that the Pathmark Community Rewards program, which gives back one percent of customers’ purchases to local schools and nonprofits of their choice, is now available at all of the company’s Pathmark store locations.  The program is administered by eScrip, a company that provides cutting edge loyalty programs for merchants who want to support their local communities.

The Pathmark Community Rewards program is very simple for customers to use.  Pathmark customers can register their Pathmark Perks Card with eScrip at eScrip.com/Pathmark and select the organization or school of their choice to receive the donated funds.

Lynne Pitcher, fundraising coordinator of the Unitarian Society in East Brunswick, N.J., has already benefited from the program.  “We now have supporters that can donate to our organization just by shopping at Pathmark.  We really appreciate that Pathmark is giving back to its local neighbors in this way.”

Working with eScrip is a natural extension of the company’s vision to be the number one food and drug store in every neighborhood it serves.

“We’re pleased to work with eScrip to help give back to local organizations in our communities,” said Tom O’Boyle, A&P’s Executive Vice President of Merchandising and Marketing.  “We tested the Community Rewards Program in some of our Pathmark stores and received excellent feedback and excitement from the communities. Now we’re looking forward to supporting additional local organizations with this program and continuing to build on our store of the neighborhood strategy.”

A&P and eScrip are working together to assist fundraising coordinators at each organization with all of the resources needed to set up the Pathmark Community Rewards program.  Fundraising coordinators also receive materials to promote their organizations’ participation in the program.

“This channel makes it simple for residents to support their communities while shopping at their local Pathmark store,” said Joanne Remillard, Executive Vice President of Community Groups at eScrip.  “We greatly appreciate Pathmark’s contributions to the nonprofit organizations that serve the communities where they do business.”
