Two Smart & Final grocery stores in Fresno have a new look and are carrying smaller packages in an effort to attract more customers.
The store at 3330 W. Shaw Ave. converted to the "Smart & Final Extra!" format in early April and the store at 5700 N. Blackstone Ave. finished its conversion last week.
The warehouse-style stores long have catered to businesses and organizations or people planning events looking to buy large quantities of food or supplies. But the company wants customers to be able to do their weekly grocery shopping at Smart & Final, says Randall Oliver, director of corporate communications.
