Supervalu Hires Steve Jungmann As Executive VP, Merchandising

MINNEAPOLIS – SUPERVALU (NYSE: SVU) announced today it has named Steve Jungmann as its new executive vice president, merchandising. Jungmann, 47, has nearly 25 years of consumer sales and marketing experience, most recently serving as senior vice president of consumer sales and marketing at the Solo Cup Company in Highland Park, Ill. He will join SUPERVALU in early February and report to Craig Herkert, CEO and president.

Steve is the right person to lead SUPERVALUs merchandising teams as we look to grow top line sales, said Craig Herkert, SUPERVALU CEO and president. His track record of understanding and leveraging consumer behavior will be invaluable as we continue our focus on becoming Americas Neighborhood Grocer, and Im excited to have him join our team.

Prior to joining Solo Cup Company in 2007, Jungmann spent one year with Spectrum Brands, a global consumer packaged goods company, as senior vice president of sales. Prior to that, he spent 20 years with Kraft Foods where he held a number of sales, corporate planning and strategy roles across multiple geographies. His most recent role with Kraft was vice president of category sales.

In his new role at SUPERVALU, Jungmann will lead all of the companys merchandising activities for its retail banners (excluding Save-A-Lot), including the Own Brands (private label) program.
