HUNTSVILLE, Alabama — Walmart's new grocery store concept could become a familiar site across Huntsville in the coming years.

The world's largest retailer is planning to build the area's first Walmart Neighborhood Market on 3.59 acres at the corner of Jordan Lane and Oakwood Avenue. But it won't be the last.

Shane Davis, the city's director of urban development, said Walmart is committed to building "multiple" Neighborhood Market stores in Huntsville.

"They've not selected (the other sites), but we're happy that they're committed to our city," Davis said Friday. "They want quality locations, and they're going to be diligent about where they place them."
