Campaign Aims For Truth About Texas Seafood

HOUSTON – A new marketing campaign aims to set the record straight about Texas seafood. The Texas Department of Agriculture is starting to pass out posters to grocery stores and restaurants, hoping to let customers know the seafood is as safe to eat now as it was before the spill.

"As soon as the extent of the situation became evident we immediately began working to disseminate information that Texas seafood was not contaminated with oil," said Veronica Obregon, Texas Department of Agriculture.

The TDA came up with the marketing materials after contacting the Department of State Health Services.

Local and fresh are the priorities at Reef, a popular Midtown restaurant where 80 percent of the menu is from the Gulf.
