Chesapeake Bay Blue Crabs Are On The Rebound

After years of decline, Chesapeake Bay blue crabs are back. From Norfolk to Baltimore, watermen say this summer's catch is among the best in decades.
Not everyone is celebrating.
The crab's resurgence has flooded the market. Prices are down as much as 60 percent. And some crabbers stay home every other day because no one will buy what they catch.
"Having all these crabs is well and good. But if you can't sell them, what good are they?" said Dan Dise, president of the Tangier Watermen's Association.
Unlike oysters, which sell locally and nationally, the bay's live crab market centers on the East Coast. Only the most daring, or well-connected, crab buyers send their product elsewhere.
