Crab Industry Adjusts To Changes

CRISFIELD, M.D. — As the bay’s blue crabs begin emerging from the mud where they have spent the winter, Maryland watermen are busy gearing up for this year’s season which starts today.

But few will catch anything this early, despite the warmer temperatures predicted during the next several days.

“You may see some go out this weekend,” said waterman Jody Tull of Marion Station. “They’ll get the itch and won’t be able to stand it.”
