Feds Allege Costco, Sam’s Club Supplier From N.C. With Distribution of Counterfeit Crab

Crab counterfeit could mean prison for a seafood entrepreneur in eastern North Carolina.

Operating since 1987 in the tiny town of Columbia, Captain Neill’s Seafood Company has been expanding its seafood empire to big box stores such as Costco and Sam’s Club – all under the guise of being local, local, local.

“We process Wild Caught crabs straight from North Carolina waters,” its website – plastered with family photos and partnership logos, from Outer Banks Catch to North Carolina Fisheries Association – claims.
