Governor's Oyster Council Reveals Plans To Enhance S. Mississippi's Oyster Industry

The chairs of three committees formed to support the restoration and resurgence of the oyster industry gave their recommendations Tuesday morning at the final Oyster Council meeting.

"The main goal is to increase the revenue for the oystermen who have dedicated their time to succeed in the oyster arena," said Dave Dennis, council chair. "Oysters have been plentiful in the past and we have a responsibility to make sure they are plentiful in the future."

Each committee was given a theme to work toward and make recommendations to be presented to Gov. Phil Bryant in June.
