Inland Seafood Hires Mary Smith As New Director Of Sustainability

Atlanta, GA —  Inland Seafood, an employee owned company, is pleased to announce the appointment of Mary Smith as Director of Sustainability. Smith will work closely with Inland’s marketing, sales, and purchasing teams to formalize sustainability initiatives and develop creative campaigns designed to educate and inspire customers. Smith will also coordinate Inland’s messaging to communicate the full scope of opportunities that are available to customers, especially when it comes to supporting responsibly sourced seafood. 

“We created this new position to really focus on our commitment not just to the future of our company but to the future of our industry as a whole,” said Chris Rosenberger, Inland President. “We are very excited to have Mary join Inland as our first Director of Sustainability. Her experience and hands-on seafood knowledge will be key to our continued growth and her enthusiasm means a great deal to us.”! 

Smith brings a wealth of seafood experience to Inland. For the past 6 years she ran Springline Seafood, a direct marketing business based out of Sitka, AK focused on the troll-caught frozenat- sea king and coho salmon Smith harvested with her husband. She is currently the publisher and editor-in-chief of Edible Alaska, a quarterly magazine celebrating Alaska’s local food scene.!

Prior to her direct marketing efforts, Smith spent 15 years working in seafood marketing and sustainability for both Santa Monica Seafood and The Chicago-based Plitt Company. Smith holds a Bachelor of Arts in creative writing from Northland College, and an Associates in culinary arts from the Culinary Institute of America.!
