McLEAN, Va. – In an effort to secure a spot for shrimp on holiday and party menus nationwide, The National Fisheries Institute Shrimp Council teamed up with Calphalon® and four talented bloggers to showcase the ease-of-preparation and versatility of America’s favorite seafood.
The initiative – “Celebrate with Shrimp” – challenged the Shrimp Council’s 2015 blogger ambassadors to create easy, unique and mouthwatering recipes that highlighted shrimp as an essential holiday ingredient. Each blogger was equipped with a Calphalon® Contemporary Self-Sharpening 15-Piece Cutlery Set with SharpIN™ Technology to assist in recipe preparation.
“Throughout the holiday season, schedules are busy and houseguests are aplenty,” remarked Judy Dashiell, Senior Vice President of The National Fisheries Institute. “Consumers are searching for quick and easy recipes to impress their guests, so, with the help of Calphalon® products and our talented blogger ambassadors, we were able to showcase why shrimp is a star ingredient for delicious appetizers.”
By focusing on ease of preparation and on-trend ingredients, the Shrimp Council blogger ambassadors developed a lineup of standout shrimp recipes, including:
- Cajun Shrimp and Sausage Skewers
- Baked Spinach & Artichoke Shrimp Dip
- Firecracker Shrimp Wonton Tacos
- Light Tex Mex Shrimp Bites
“Whether used in dips and skewers or added to tacos and wontons, shrimp takes an average recipe to the next level,” said Dashiell. “And, thanks to the creativity of our bloggers, we were able to showcase this in a whole new – and mouthwatering – way.”
Through a combination of blog post readership and accompanying social media engagement, the “Celebrate with Shrimp” campaign garnered more than 15.4 million impressions.
