NFI's Shrimp Council Promotes Shrimp For Tailgate Season

McLEAN, Va. – With football season in high gear, The National Fisheries Institute’s Shrimp Council has rolled out a game plan that positions shrimp as the go-to fan choice for tailgate parties.

Partnering with three online influencers – the creators of the blogs Damn Delicious, Cooking Classy, and The Little Kitchen – the Council’s  “Tailgate Takeover” campaign aims to use savory shrimp recipes to inspire consumers to bring their best shrimp dishes to every tailgate.

For the fall initiative, the Council invited the online influencers to create appetizing, tailgate-friendly recipes that would be a hit with everyone, whether football fans or not. The bloggers were also provided herb and spice products from McCormick to flavor their recipes and showcase the versatility of shrimp. The campaign draws on the immense social followings of all three bloggers, as well as their ability to create delectable, easy-to-prepare shrimp recipes.

The tailgate lineup features these tantalizing recipes crafted by the three bloggers:

–       Honey-Orange Firecracker Shrimp, by Damn Delicious

–       Crispy Panko Shrimp with Cocktail Sauce, by Cooking Classy

–       Spicy Shrimp Spring Rolls, by The Little Kitchen

“Everyone knows that tailgating would not be the same without great food,” said Judy Dashiell, Senior Vice President of NFI. “Fans are always looking to bring bite-sized finger foods to their pregame rituals, and shrimp is the perfect choice. We hope this campaign will help consumer think outside the box when it comes to tailgate and party food, and encourage them to reach for nutritious and delicious shrimp when planning their menus.”

Through active blog post readership and accompanying social media interactions, the Tailgate Takeover online campaign so far has garnered more than 16.6 million impressions.
