AFE Appoints New Trustees

The American Floral Endowment (AFE) appointed Dr. Megan Bowman of Ball Horticultural Company and Gustavo Gilchrest of Kennicott Brothers Company to join the AFE Board of Trustees. Both will serve a three-year term starting in September 2019.

The first new named fund is The Retail Florist’s Continued Education Fund. The second new named fund is The Garcia Family Fund, established by The Pete Garcia Company.

Krissy Doyle Memorial Tribute Established

Krissy worked for nearly two decades as SAF’s manager of Member and Data Services before passing away in the summer of 2019 at the age of 49 after a valiant fight with cancer.

Michael Kraft Memorial Tribute Established

September 5, 2019 American Floral Endowment

Michael was a treasured member of the floral industry from the age of 22 when he joined the family business. Alongside his two brothers, for over 30 years, he co-owned Nanz & Kraft Florists in Louisville, Kentucky, founded in 1850.

AFE Awards More than $42,000 in 2019 Scholarships

The American Floral Endowment (AFE) has awarded 15 students with scholarships totaling $42,300. Seventy-four applications were received for this 2019 scholarship cycle.
