To acquire the EFI certification, Misionero received the required leadership and skill development training, as well as an audit by a third-party certifying body. Misionero is currently partnering with its growing partners to bring the first EFI-labeled leafy greens into the marketplace.

EFI Celebrates Five Years of Workforce Development Support

EFI was first conceived in 2008, was incubated within Oxfam America during a development phase and incorporated as an independent nonprofit in 2015. It has since trained leadership teams on nearly 60 farming operations in North and Central America, improving working conditions for more than 36,000 farmworkers.

Rainier Fruit Moving Toward Formal EFI Certification Held First Training March 6, 2020

As a leader in the apple category, Rainier Fruit has partnered with Equitable Food Initiative to begin training and move toward formally certifying their largest farm of over 2300 acres. This will include a full manifest of EFI certified organic and conventional apples, organic cherries and organic blueberries, and will in turn make Rainier the first EFI certified establishment in Washington State’s fruit industry.
