Michael Dykes, D.V.M., president and CEO of the International Dairy Foods Association (IDFA), released the following statemen after the U.S. Senate confirmed Dr. Robert Califf to lead the Food and Drug Administration:

WCMA Ready to Work with New FDA Commissioner on Food Labeling

The Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association (WCMA) shared today that it eagerly anticipates working with Dr. Robert Califf, the newly confirmed Commissioner of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), to enforce the agency’s own standards on the labeling of imitation dairy products. In response to questions from U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin (D-Wisconsin) during his confirmation hearing in December, Califf said that he would commit to ensuring transparency in labeling.

FDA Releases Guidance for Industry on Enforcement Approach to Human Food with Chlorpyrifos Residues Following EPA Tolerance Revocations

Today the U.S. Food and Drug Administration released a guidance document titled Questions and Answers Regarding Channels of Trade Policy for Human Food Commodities with Chlorpyrifos Residues: Guidance for Industry. The guidance is intended to help food producers and processors who handle foods that may contain residues of the pesticide chemical chlorpyrifos. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) published a final rule on August 30, 2021, revoking all tolerances for chlorpyrifos; these tolerances are set to expire on February 28, 2022.
