NOAA Fisheries announced new regulations for the lobster and Jonah crab trap and pot fisheries operating in the Northeast United States to help save endangered North Atlantic right whales by reducing their risk of entanglement in fishing gear.

Feds Look To Create Jonah Crab Fishery

The ASMFC established the first Jonah crab management plan in 2015. Now, at the request of the commission, NOAA Fisheries is getting into the game with proposed regulations for managing Jonah crabs in federal waters.
