Shrimp Season to Close West of Gulfport Ship Channel; Additional Waters South of Intracoastal Waterway Remain Open

Officials with the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources (MDMR) announced that beginning Wednesday, May 1, 2024, all waters south of the Intracoastal Waterway and west of the Gulfport Ship Channel in Mississippi territorial waters are closed to shrimping.

MDMR: Shrimp Season to Close North of ICW on Jan. 1, 2024

Officials with the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources (MDMR) remind shrimpers that all waters north of the Intracoastal Waterway will close at 12:01 a.m. Monday, Jan. 1, 2024, as provided by law and the regulations of the MDMR.

Certain Waters for Commercial and Recreational Shrimping to Open, Re-Establish Shrimping Line

In addition to waters previously opened to shrimping on May 22, 2023, all waters south and west of a line beginning at Beacon “18” in the Biloxi Bay Channel, running northwesterly to Beacon “22” in the Biloxi Bay Channel, northwesterly to Beacon “26” in the Biloxi Bay Channel, westerly to Beacon “34” (exclusive of the Biloxi Channel itself), westerly to Beacon “30” in the Biloxi Channel (exclusive of the Biloxi Channel itself) and then due south to a point on Deer Island are hereby declared and ordered opened as of 6 a.m. on Saturday, October 7, 2023, for shrimping as provided by law and the regulations of the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources.
