Danone Discontinues 2 Plant-Based Milk Options Under Its Silk and So Delicious Brands

The CPG giant debuted Silk Nextmilk and So Delicious Wondermilk in late 2021 after replicating the traits in milk — its taste, nutritional components, molecular composition and even the nostalgic feeling it created with the consumer — but in plant form. The goal, the company said at the time, was to deliver the necessary taste and texture to attract milk drinkers who have wanted to make the switch to plants but have found these attributes lacking. 

Danone Introducing Plant-based “Dairy-Like” Segment for Reluctant Dairy Fans

Applying its expertise in both dairy and plant-based beverages (via Silk and So Delicious Dairy Free), Danone’s experts deconstructed beloved dairy attributes and sensory experience (including “mouthfeel”) and then recreated them by blending a mix of familiar, high-quality plant-based ingredients. The result is a new plant-based “Dairy-Like” segment of plant-based products that don’t taste like any specific plant-based ingredient (almond, oat, soy, etc.) and are so rich and creamy, fans won’t miss dairy.
