Stronger America Through Seafood Hosts Legislative Fly-In, Advocates for Expansion of Offshore Aquaculture on Capitol Hill

Industry coalition Stronger America Through Seafood (SATS) is hosting a legislative fly-in starting today, Monday, November 6 through Wednesday, November 8. Seafood industry representatives from across the country will meet with congressional offices in the U.S. House and Senate to raise awareness of and advocate for the expansion of the American fish farming industry through offshore aquaculture.

Companion Bill Introduced in U.S. House to Facilitate Growth of Offshore Aquaculture Industry in America

On June 12, Representatives Kat Cammack (R-FL-03), Ed Case (D-HI-01) and Mike Ezell (R-MS-4) re-introduced the bipartisan Advancing the Quality and Understanding of American Aquaculture (AQUAA) Act in the 118th Congress. The House bill is companion legislation to the AQUAA Act introduced by U.S. Senators Roger Wicker (R-MS) and Brian Schatz (D-HI) last week.

Industry coalition Stronger America Through Seafood (SATS) sent a letter to the Chairs and Ranking Members of the U.S. House and U.S. Senate Committees on Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, Science and Related Agencies today urging Congress to support annual funding for NOAA Fisheries’ National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS)’s Aquaculture Office in the fiscal year 2024 Commerce, Justice and Science (CJS) Appropriations Act.
