USDA Announces Appointments to the Christmas Tree Promotion Board

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) today announced the appointment of three producers to the Christmas Tree Promotion Board. Each member will serve a three-year term expiring on December 31, 2024.

USDA Invests $32 Million to Strengthen U.S. Food Supply Chain; Solidifies Commitment to Helping the Meat and Poultry Sector Recover from the Pandemic

U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Secretary Tom Vilsack announced the investment of $32 million in grants awarded to 167 meat and poultry slaughter and processing facilities to support expanded capacity and efficiency through the Meat and Poultry Inspection Readiness Grant (MPIRG) program.

Seafood Processors Pandemic Response and Safety Block Grant Program

The SPRS grant program will provide approximately $50 million in assistance to seafood processing facilities and processing vessels through block grants to State agencies. USDA allocated funding to certain U.S. states and territories based on a formula that considers economic activity as demonstrated through commercial fisheries landings, as detailed in the RFA. This program is funded by the Pandemic Assistance provided in the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021. 

USDA Establishes Dairy Donation Program

U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Deputy Secretary Jewel Bronaugh today announced the establishment of a $400 million Dairy Donation Program (DDP) on a call with Senate Agriculture Committee Chair Debbie Stabenow. The DDP, established by USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) in accordance with the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021, aims to facilitate timely dairy product donations while reducing food waste.

USDA AMS EU Dairy Export Verification Program

As of January 15, 2022, the European Union (EU) will require new health certificates for U.S. dairy products exported to the EU. USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) will be prepared to issue these new health certificates.
