BabyCenter, Healthy Child Healthy World & Stonyfield Team Up To Unveil An Interactive Resource For Moms On Organics

LONDONDERRY, N.H. — Moms now have a new online community to connect, share stories, ask questions, and engage with experts about the growing trend of eating organic, thanks to BabyCenter.com, Healthy Child Healthy World, and Stonyfield Farm. The Easy Organic Living site (www.babycenter.com/easyorganicliving) on BabyCenter, the #1 parenting and pregnancy destination worldwide, offers a discussion group, videos, articles, organic challenges and Q&A sessions with experts in health, cooking and family budgeting.

Expert guests are partnering with Stonyfield to offer moms and dads on the site guidance about the health benefits of organic food, as well as easy, affordable ways to incorporate organics into their homes. In response to feedback from new parents, the Easy Organic Living experts will offer timely information on topics requested by moms. An online survey of BabyCenter.com moms found that 67% want to know more about organic health benefits, while 86% said they'd eat more organic food if they could find ways to afford it.

Experts will include:

•America's Pediatrician Dr. Bill Sears will lend his expertise in getting children off to a healthy start.
•Healthy eating expert and author Robyn O'Brien will talk about ways to avoid synthetic chemicals in your family's diet.
•Melinda Hemmelgarn, M.S., R.D. a registered dietitian and national award-winning "Food Sleuth" columnist and radio host. Melinda is an expert on healthy eating throughout the lifecycle and uniquely connects the dots between food, health and farming methods. She will answer questions about the health and environmental benefits of eating organic.
•Catherine McCord chef and founder of the popular blog, Weelicious, who also blogs for BabyCenter (http://blogs.babycenter.com/author/cmccord/) will offer cooking tips and recipes for healthy, family-friendly meals.
•Valerie Deneen of the Frugal Family Fun blog will provide pointers for eating healthy on a budget.
•Abbie Corse, Organic Valley dairy farmer and mom, will talk with other moms about the steps her farm takes to produce healthy food and the steps they take to ensure food is certified organic.
•Two-time World Cup champion and two-time Olympic Gold medalist, Kristine Lily, will offer her experience as a true "Soccer Mom" and will speak to how sports play an important role in healthy living.

One innovative feature of the program is the integration of Healthy Child Healthy World, a national non-profit leader inspiring parents to protect children from harmful chemicals, whose participation adds an additional layer of expertise and credibility to the resource.

"With the steady increases in childhood allergies, asthma, obesity, diabetes, and other conditions with dietary implications, one of the primary questions we hear from moms is how to provide healthy, safe food for their families," said Janelle Sorensen, Chief Communications Officer of Healthy Child Healthy World. "We are eager for this opportunity to share our award-winning educational content and practical recommendations that empower families to live healthier."

"It's important to moms that their baby's first foods are healthy and pure so starting them on an organic diet free of toxic persistent pesticides, chemical fertilizers, antibiotics and synthetic growth hormones is a wonderful gift for both mom and baby," said Gary Hirshberg, CE-Yo of Stonyfield Farm. "This dynamic new site is a place where parents can go to get their questions answered and pick up tips from each other. "
