Flowers Are One Wedding Tradition That Lasts

While many modern couples are foregoing some wedding traditions that are considered cheesy, giving flowers to the mothers of the couple and throwing a bouquet to the bridesmaids remain a part of many celebrations.

The Daily Mail reports that though grooms will still likely go down on one knee when proposing to their sweetheart, fewer grooms feel compelled to ask the father of the bride for their wife-to-be's hand in marriage.

Other traditions that have gone by the wayside include a having a glass of sherry before heading to the altar, carrying the bride over the threshold, tying cans to the back of the honeymoon car and throwing confetti as the couple leaves the altar.
