WASHINGTON, D.C. – The American Bakers Association’s (ABA) Board of Directors and the Board of the Allied Trades of the Baking Industry (ATBI) will convene in Dallas, Texas, on October 28 for their Joint Board Meeting. Keynote speakers Congressman Pete Sessions (TX-32) and Karen Hughes, Worldwide Vice Chair of Burson-Marsteller, will each address the group on a variety of issues that are of importance to the industry.
Representative Sessions will share his insights on controlling health care costs, releasing businesses from onerous regulatory burdens and the House of Representatives’ plan to spur sustainable economic growth in the 114th Congress. Serving his ninth term in Congress, Rep. Sessions works on various Congressional committees and caucuses including the House Committee on Rules in which he serves as Chairman. In 2008 and 2010, he was elected by the House Republican Conference as Chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee.
Ambassador Hughes, one of the world’s foremost communication strategists, will join the group during their dinner event to provide her insights on the fundamentals of leadership developed from her experiences with President Bush and leaders around the world.
Before joining Burson-Marsteller in 2008, she served as Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs where she led the U.S. State Department’s effort to communicate America’s values abroad. She also served as Counselor to President George W. Bush from 2001 to 2002. In this role she acted as strategic advisor to the President on Policy and Communications and managed the White House Offices of Communications, Media Affairs, Speechwriting and Press Secretary.
