A family-owned dessert-maker is savoring a sweet relationship with a multimillion-dollar brand: RumChata.
In spring 2017, Avenues Classics, based in Kansas City, Kan., secured an exclusive licensing deal with Agave Loco LLC to create and distribute a premium dessert line for the award-winning cream liqueur. RumChata is one of the top five selling liqueurs in the U.S., said Tony Birch, co-owner and vice president of sales/marketing for Avenues Classics.
During the past year, RumChata dessert sales tripled. With the offering continuing to gain traction, Avenues Classics now is expanding the dessert line and launched an e-commerce site to take it national.
