New Bakery Will Serve Wiseway, Paylow Stores In NW Indiana

VALPARAISO — A 10,000-square-foot centralized bakery will now serve the seven WiseWay and PayLow grocery stores in the region, and may soon serve other customers as well.

The facility, located on U.S. 30 behind the WiseWay there, produces hundreds of cakes and thousands of loaves of bread each week, said Toni Hammond, deli and bakery director for the stores.

"It just gives us a lot of added capabilities," in terms of the quantity and variety of baked goods that the stores can offer, she said.

The WiseWay store on North Calumet Avenue had housed a much smaller centralized bakery, but the grocery store chain outgrew it, said Mike Zaucha, vice president of operations for the stores.
