IDDBA's 2013 Cake Challenge Contestants Announced

The International Dairy-Deli-Bakery Association™ (IDDBA) has announced the three contestants chosen to participate in the 18th annual IDDBA Cake Decorating Challenge to be held at IDDBA’s Dairy-Deli-Bake 2013 seminar and expo in Orlando, FL, June 2-4. There were 68 entrants from 31 supermarket chains.

IRS Files Tax Lien Against Berger Cookies Maker

The IRS filed a notice of a nearly $109,000 tax lien against DeBaufre Bakeries — which makes the Baltimore treat — with the Baltimore City Circuit Court in February. Most of that amount was due in 2010, with smaller amounts due in 2009 and 2011, according to the court document

Certified Master Baker Philippe Le Corre Teaches Sold-Out Croissant Class For BBGA

Philippe Le Corre taught a sold-out baking education class, The Perfect Croissant, for the Bread Bakers Guild of America on March 2-3 at General Mills in Minneapolis. Although the main focus of the class was the croissant, the techniques taught can be applied to all laminated doughs. Participants learned about flour selection, mixing and lamination techniques and how those affected the final product.

ABA Policy Chairs To Focus On Achieving Goals Despite Washington Gridlock

The All Membership Meeting on Sunday, April 21 at the upcoming 2013 ABA Convention in Aventura, Fla., will feature a roundtable discussion with ABA’s Policy Committee Chairs. The discussion will focus on how ABA can be effective despite gridlock in Washington. CSM To Sell Bakery Unit To Rhone For About $1.4 Billion

CSM NV agreed to sell its bakery supplies unit to Rhone Capital LLC for 1.05 billion euros ($1.36 billion) including debt, ending a 10-month search for a buyer as it seeks to focus on bio-based ingredients.
