Cargill Assembles Panel To Review Ground Turkey Food Safety Enhancements

Cargill has asked a panel of experts in food safety, microbiology and epidemiology to review its enhanced ground turkey food safety program in the wake of the company’s Aug. 3, 2011, voluntary recall of 36 million pounds of ground turkey. Cargill initiated the recall after learning that the U.S. Centers for Disease Control had detected an outbreak of Salmonella-related illnesses.

Silva Sausage Co. Recalls Chicken Products Due To Undeclared Allergen

Silva Sausage Co., a Gilroy, Calif. establishment, is recalling approximately 28,782 pounds of chicken sausage products because of misbranding and an undeclared allergen. The products contain the undeclared allergen, cultured whey, an ingredient in the spice blend, which is not noted on the label.
