Rene Produce, L.L.C. announced that it has expanded its produce operations to include Organic English Cucumbers, effective immediately. The Primus Labs certified English cucumbers are grown in a greenhouse environment in Culiacán, Sinaloa, Mexico.

Stemilt & Wenatchee Learns Partner On Local Scholarship Facebook Campaign

Stemilt Growers is teaming up with a Wenatchee educational initiative to help fund a college scholarship for a graduating high school student. Beginning this Saturday, Stemilt will donate $1 for every new "Like" on Wenatchee Learns' Facebook page (www.facebook.com/WenatcheeLearns) up to a maximum of $1,500. The money will go to the Washington Apple Education Foundation, the charitable organization for the Washington tree fruit industry, which will then review applicants and announce a scholarship recipient in mid-May.

California Strawberries Now In Season

California strawberry peak season is officially here. According to the California Strawberry Commission, California strawberries are available year round with March through August marking the peak season. Eighty-eight percent of the strawberries in the United States are grown in California by more than 500 family farmers who employ innovative and sustainable farming practices.

Stapleton-Spence Packing Co. Completes Largest Solar Water Heating System In California

Stapleton-Spence’s fruit processing and co-pack facility has the largest solar water heating system ever installed in California, saving the company 37,584 therms of natural gas annually. 37,500 therms is equivalent to 1 million kWh or a carbon footprint offset of 1.4 million pounds of CO2, the equivalent to 2,000 cars annually, sources say.
