Foremost Farms USA Wins Cheese & Butter Categories At 2013 Wisconsin State Fair Contest

BARABOO, WI — A Foremost Farms USA cheese entry from Clayton, Wis., and butter entries from Reedsburg, Wis., topped categories at the 2013 Wisconsin State Fair Cheese and Butter Contest. The contest was held in June at State Fair Park in West Allis.

A “non smoked reduced fat provolone” won the Reduced Fat or Lite Cheese category. The cheese was produced at Foremost Farms in Clayton earning a score of 99.55 (out of 100 possible points).

Salted butter entries from Reedsburg earned first, second and fourth places in the contest.

Multiple Foremost Farms entries also placed in the top-ten.

This year’s contest boasted approximately 300 entries. The winners will be recognized at the Blue Ribbon Cheese and Butter Auction Aug. 9. Blue ribbon winners will be auctioned to raise funds for the Wisconsin State Fair Dairy Promotion Board supporting scholarships for students pursuing dairy-related degrees and to support the “House of Moo” dairy education center and milking demonstrations during the fair.
