Knowlton, WI's Mullins Cheese: Dairy Farmers Lifeline For Cheese Company

KNOWLTON — Mullins Cheese can do just about anything when it comes to cheese.

The Knowlton-based company, which remains family owned, can produce 35 types of cheese. Currently, Parmesan is the most popular, followed by Asiago.

The company also sells Mullins Whey Protein, a natural byproduct of cheese-making that is used as a protein supplement, particularly for weightlifters.

With one plant in Marshfield and the main factory in Knowlton, Mullins has positioned itself to continue to grow. The company produces about 450,000 pounds of cheese each day, owner Bill Mullins said.
